Responsibility
- Oversee daily fabrication, welding, and mechanical workshop operations to ensure high-quality output and adherence to project timelines.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for workshop processes, including safety protocols and quality control measures.
- Coordinate with engineering and production teams to plan, execute, and monitor fabrication projects for heavy machinery and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of workshop tools, machinery, and finished products to maintain compliance with industry and company standards.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and spare parts, ensuring optimal stock levels and cost-efficient procurement.
- Train, mentor, and supervise workshop staff, fostering a culture of skill development, teamwork, and accountability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and fabrication issues, providing innovative solutions to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare and present reports on workshop performance, including productivity metrics, budget adherence, and safety incidents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Diploma holders with extensive experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in fabrication, welding, or mechanical workshop operations, preferably in palm oil mills, heavy industry, or manufacturing sectors.
- Proven leadership experience in managing workshop teams, including scheduling, task delegation, and performance evaluation.
- Strong technical knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc), metal fabrication, and machinery maintenance.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and fabrication challenges.
- Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA, ISO standards) and commitment to maintaining a zero-accident workplace.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
