Responsibility
- Develop, implement, and optimize welding procedures and techniques to ensure high-quality output and compliance with industry standards (e.g., AWS, ISO).
- Inspect and test welded components using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as X-ray, ultrasonic, or magnetic particle inspection.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and arc welders, to ensure operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with production and design teams to review blueprints, specifications, and material requirements for welding projects.
- Train and supervise machine operators and junior welders on best practices, safety protocols, and quality control measures.
- Troubleshoot welding defects (e.g., porosity, cracks, incomplete fusion) and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of welding parameters, inspection reports, and compliance records.
- Stay updated on advancements in welding technology and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related field. Diploma holders with extensive experience may also apply.
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, or machine operation within industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, schematics, and weld symbols (AWS standards preferred).
- Certification in welding inspections (e.g., CWI, CSWIP) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgy, material properties, and welding techniques for various metals (steel, aluminum, stainless steel).
- Experience with welding automation or robotic welding systems is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in high-precision environments.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented settings while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
