Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is seeking a WASH Programmes Support Manager to be based in our Kuala Lumpur office. In this vital role, you will provide high-level technical expertise across water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), environmental health, and the intersection of climate change and public health.

As the Programmes Support Manager, you will act as a bridge between technical field operations and global strategy. You will support our mission by ensuring that our WASH interventions are not only innovative and sustainable but also rigorously aligned with international humanitarian standards. This position is ideal for an experienced professional who is passionate about public health, environmental resilience, and delivering life-saving infrastructure in challenging environments.

You will collaborate with diverse, multidisciplinary teams to design strategies that mitigate environmental health risks and foster long-term WASH resilience. If you are a strategic thinker with a deep commitment to the MSF mission and the technical skills to drive impactful change, we encourage you to apply today.

Responsibility

  • Provide expert technical guidance on WASH strategy for global humanitarian missions and ongoing field projects.
  • Develop and implement robust frameworks for environmental health, climate-WASH adaptation, and sanitation infrastructure.
  • Support field teams in troubleshooting complex technical challenges related to water quality, waste management, and hygiene promotion.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate climate-resilient designs into emergency and development WASH workstreams.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of WASH programmes, ensuring adherence to MSF protocols and humanitarian best practices.
  • Draft technical reports, policy briefs, and advocacy materials to inform organizational strategy.
  • Provide training and capacity-building support to mission-based technical personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in humanitarian WASH programming, preferably in international contexts.
  • Proven track record in managing complex technical projects and cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of international humanitarian standards (e.g., Sphere Standards).
  • Experience in integrating climate change considerations into environmental health projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a significant asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively under pressure.
