Responsibility
- Assist veterinarians and pharmacy staff in dispensing prescription medications and over-the-counter products accurately and safely.
- Manage and organize pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and tracking supplies to ensure availability.
- Provide clear and compassionate guidance to pet owners on medication administration, dosage, and potential side effects.
- Maintain meticulous records of prescriptions, inventory levels, and controlled substances in compliance with veterinary regulations.
- Prepare and label medications, including compounding treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure seamless coordination between pharmacy services and patient care.
- Handle cash transactions, process payments, and maintain financial records for pharmacy sales.
- Uphold strict hygiene and safety standards in the pharmacy workspace to ensure a clean and sterile environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in pharmacy, veterinary assistance, or a related field is a plus.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy, veterinary clinic, or animal healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medications, dosage calculations, and common animal health conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pet owners, veterinarians, and team members.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities to manage inventory and prescriptions accurately.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management systems and record-keeping.
