Responsibility
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse fleet of park vehicles, including safari trucks, utility vehicles, and specialized transport equipment.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate service records, including work orders, parts inventory, and vehicle history logs.
- Collaborate with the technical services team to develop preventive maintenance schedules and improve vehicle reliability.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements for wildlife park operations.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on-site repairs to minimize downtime.
- Source and manage spare parts inventory, coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely availability.
- Train and mentor junior technicians or park staff on basic vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Diploma or vocational certification in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a vehicle technician, preferably with exposure to heavy-duty or specialized vehicles.
- Strong diagnostic skills with proficiency in using tools such as OBD scanners, multimeters, and hydraulic testers.
- Hands-on experience with diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical wiring.
- Familiarity with fleet management software and digital maintenance tracking systems.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Physical fitness to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and working in outdoor conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to obtain specialized certifications (e.g., forklift, off-road vehicles) as needed.
