Responsibility
- Develop and manage the restaurant’s tea program, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection of teas.
- Provide expert tea recommendations and pairings to complement the culinary offerings at yì by Jereme Leung.
- Conduct engaging tea presentations and tastings for guests, sharing the history, brewing techniques, and cultural significance of each tea.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create harmonious tea and food pairings that enhance the dining experience.
- Maintain inventory of teas, ensuring optimal storage conditions and freshness.
- Train and mentor staff on tea service standards, brewing methods, and guest interaction.
- Stay updated on global tea trends, sourcing new and rare teas to elevate the restaurant’s offerings.
- Host exclusive tea events and workshops to attract and retain high-end clientele.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Tea Sommelier or equivalent professional training in tea studies.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a luxury hospitality or fine dining environment, with a focus on tea service.
- In-depth knowledge of Chinese teas, including their origins, processing methods, and brewing techniques.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests.
- Strong sensory skills to assess tea quality, aroma, and flavor profiles.
- Ability to work collaboratively with chefs, sommeliers, and service staff.
- Fluency in English; additional languages, particularly Mandarin or Indonesian, are a plus.
- Passion for continuous learning and a commitment to staying abreast of industry trends.
