Responsibility

  • Lead the design and debugging of complex mechanical systems for mosquito population control, ensuring reliability, scalability, and precision.
  • Develop and implement automated testing frameworks to validate system performance under real-world conditions.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, and biological engineering teams to integrate mechanical solutions into end-to-end systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware failures, calibration issues, and performance bottlenecks in deployed systems.
  • Optimize mechanical designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and field durability in diverse environments.
  • Document technical specifications, debug procedures, and best practices for global teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership in cross-functional projects.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in robotics, automation, and precision engineering to drive innovation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field (PhD preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and debugging for automated or robotic systems.
  • Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360) and FEA analysis tools.
  • Hands-on experience with precision machining, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving complex mechanical failures in production or field environments.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for automation and data analysis.
  • Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and collaboration with suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical challenges and solutions to non-engineering stakeholders.
