job description
Join Bureau Veritas, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) services, as a Well Control & High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) Specialist for offshore operations along the East Coast of Malaysia. This critical role demands deep technical expertise in managing complex well control scenarios in extreme pressure and temperature environments, ensuring operational safety, compliance, and efficiency in high-stakes oil and gas projects.
With a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in HPHT well interventions, you will play a pivotal role in risk assessment, emergency response planning, and advising on best practices for well integrity. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and success of offshore drilling and production activities in one of the world’s most challenging energy frontiers.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, collaborate with international teams, and drive innovation in well control methodologies. If you are a seasoned professional with a passion for solving complex engineering challenges in dynamic environments, we invite you to apply.
Responsibility
- Develop and implement well control procedures for HPHT wells, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., API, IWCF).
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for high-pressure drilling and completion operations.
- Provide technical expertise during well planning, intervention, and emergency response scenarios.
- Monitor real-time well data to detect anomalies and recommend corrective actions to prevent blowouts or loss of control.
- Train and mentor rig crews and engineering teams on HPHT well control best practices and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize well design and operational parameters for HPHT conditions.
- Prepare and review well control manuals, contingency plans, and post-incident reports.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and regulatory changes in HPHT well control and integrate them into company practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of technical experience in well control, with at least 5 years in HPHT environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Certification in IWCF Well Control (Level 4 or 5) or equivalent (mandatory).
- Proven track record in offshore drilling, completion, or intervention operations in HPHT fields.
- Strong knowledge of well control equipment (e.g., BOP systems, kill lines, chokes) and their applications in extreme conditions.
- Experience with real-time monitoring tools and well control simulation software.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under high-pressure situations.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Malay or other regional languages is a plus.
