Responsibility
- Lead the development, qualification, and optimization of welding processes for PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) and plastic materials to meet industry standards (e.g., AWS, ISO, ASME).
- Ensure all welding activities comply with regulatory codes, customer specifications, and internal quality management systems.
- Design and execute process validation protocols, including DOE (Design of Experiments), to improve weld integrity, strength, and consistency.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain welding procedure specifications (WPS) and process control documentation.
- Provide hands-on technical support for manufacturing operations, including training operators on best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and cycle times in welding processes.
- Stay abreast of emerging welding technologies and industry trends, particularly in plastic and fluoropolymer applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in welding engineering, with a focus on plastics, PFA, or fluoropolymers in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Certification in CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or equivalent is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in welding process development (e.g., TIG, MIG, laser welding) and material characterization for polymers.
- Strong knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100) and regulatory requirements for medical/industrial applications.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis (RCA) tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Why).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and adapt to evolving technical challenges.
