As a Senior Welding Engineer, you will oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of welding processes to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Responsibility
- Lead and supervise welding operations, ensuring adherence to industry standards (e.g., AWS, ISO) and company protocols.
- Develop, test, and optimize welding procedures (WPS/PQR) for diverse materials, including steel, aluminum, and exotic alloys.
- Conduct root cause analysis for welding defects and implement corrective actions to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to review blueprints, specifications, and project requirements.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding machines.
- Train and mentor junior welders and engineers on best practices, safety protocols, and advanced techniques.
- Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ASME) and environmental standards.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives by optimizing material usage, reducing waste, and improving process cycle times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CWI, IWE) are a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in welding engineering, preferably in manufacturing, shipbuilding, or oil & gas industries.
- Proficient in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, SMAW, FCAW) and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods (UT, RT, PT, MT).
- Strong knowledge of metallurgy, material science, and heat treatment processes.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and welding simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and lean manufacturing principles.
- Fluent in English; Indonesian language skills are advantageous but not required.
