Responsibility
- Lead and supervise welding projects from planning to execution, ensuring adherence to AWS, ASME, and ISO standards.
- Conduct welding procedure specifications (WPS) development, qualification, and testing.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) and visual inspections to verify weld quality and integrity.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to optimize welding techniques for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on best practices in welding and safety protocols.
- Investigate welding failures, root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations and company policies.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders and clients.
Qualifications
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in welding engineering, preferably in industrial gas systems or pressure vessel manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, and welding symbols.
- Strong understanding of material science, metallurgy, and heat treatment processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other engineering software is a plus.
