Responsibility
- Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and monitoring of water treatment and distribution facilities to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of water infrastructure, including pumps, pipelines, reservoirs, and treatment plants, to identify and address potential issues.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, environmental regulations, and operational best practices to minimize risks and ensure public health protection.
- Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to plan and execute repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Monitor water quality through sampling, testing, and analysis, ensuring adherence to national and international water quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to facility operations, incidents, and compliance.
- Train and supervise junior operators and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with local authorities, community stakeholders, and environmental agencies to address water resource challenges and support sustainable development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, or a related field. A masterâs degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in water treatment, distribution systems, or facilities operations, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proven expertise in operating and maintaining water infrastructure, including knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, and automated control systems.
- Strong understanding of water quality standards, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety (OHS) protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Proficiency in using water management software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and mentor team members.
- Certification in Water Treatment Operations, Wastewater Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
