Responsibility
- Design, deploy, and maintain Unix/Linux-based systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) in enterprise and cloud environments.
- Optimize system performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and ensure high availability for critical services.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including hardening, patch management, and access controls.
- Automate repetitive tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
- Monitor system health, capacity, and logs using tools like Nagios, Prometheus, or ELK Stack.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Unix systems with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies to ensure data integrity.
- Provide technical mentorship and documentation for junior team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Unix/Linux System Administrator or Engineer.
- Expertise in Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Debian) and command-line administration.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, HTTP/HTTPS) and firewall configurations.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), LPIC, or AWS SysOps are a plus.
