Responsibility
- Classify products using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and determine Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) in accordance with US and international regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Export Administration Regulations (EAR), ITAR, and local customs laws for all import/export activities.
- Conduct risk assessments on trade transactions and implement mitigation strategies to avoid penalties or delays.
- Collaborate with logistics, procurement, and legal teams to streamline customs clearance processes and reduce duty costs.
- Maintain and update trade compliance documentation, including licenses, permits, and audit trails.
- Monitor changes in global trade policies and advise stakeholders on their implications for business operations.
- Lead internal audits and support external audits to ensure adherence to trade compliance frameworks.
- Provide training and guidance to cross-functional teams on customs best practices and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CUS, CITP, or CCS) are a plus.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or global logistics, preferably in a multinational corporation.
- In-depth knowledge of HTS classification, ECCN determination, EAR, and ITAR regulations.
- Experience with customs software (e.g., SAP GTS, Oracle Trade Compliance) and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high degree of accuracy.
- Familiarity with ASEAN trade agreements, Free Trade Zones (FTZ), and Incoterms is advantageous.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Mandarin, Indonesian) are a bonus.
