job description
Join Cermak Peterka Petersen (CPP), a global leader in innovative architectural and engineering solutions, as a Senior Test Building Designer in the vibrant heart of Bali. This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between cutting-edge fabrication techniques and next-generation design modeling in one of the worldâs most dynamic architectural hubs.
In this role, you will spearhead the integration of CPPâs proprietary fabrication methodologies with advanced 3D printing and testing workflows. Your expertise will directly contribute to the development of groundbreaking building systems that redefine structural efficiency, sustainability, and aesthetic possibilities. Based in Badung, Bali, youâll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to push the boundaries of whatâs possible in modern construction.
Whether youâre optimizing digital models for large-scale 3D printing or refining testing protocols for new materials, your work will shape the future of architectural design. CPP offers a creative, fast-paced environment where innovation is rewarded, and your contributions will have a global impact.
Responsibility
- Develop and refine CPP fabrication methodologies to enhance compatibility with digital design and 3D printing processes.
- Create and optimize 3D models and simulations for structural testing, ensuring accuracy and performance under real-world conditions.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and fabrication teams to integrate design-to-fabrication workflows seamlessly.
- Conduct rigorous physical and digital testing of prototypes to validate structural integrity, material performance, and constructability.
- Document and standardize best practices for additive manufacturing (3D printing) in construction, including material specifications and printing parameters.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in computational design, parametric modeling, and robotic fabrication to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance to junior designers and fabrication teams on model preparation, file optimization, and quality control.
- Work closely with clients and stakeholders to translate project requirements into feasible, innovative design solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, or a related field with a focus on digital fabrication or computational design.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building design, with a strong portfolio showcasing 3D modeling, parametric design, or fabrication-aware projects.
- Proficiency in Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, Revit, AutoCAD, and Blender; experience with 3D printing software (e.g., Ultimaker Cura, PrusaSlicer) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale 3D printing, CNC machining, or robotic fabrication in an architectural or engineering context.
- Strong understanding of material science, particularly composites, polymers, or concrete alternatives used in additive manufacturing.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) for structural validation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Indonesian (Bahasa) is beneficial but not required.
