Responsibility
- Negotiate and finalize charter party agreements (time, voyage, and bareboat) with shipowners and charterers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and industry stakeholders to expand business opportunities.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, vessel availability, and competitive pricing.
- Prepare and present commercial proposals, including freight calculations, laycan assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, contractual obligations, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with operations, legal, and finance teams to execute seamless vessel fixtures and post-fixture management.
- Monitor vessel performance, demurrage claims, and dispute resolutions to protect client interests.
- Attend industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings to stay ahead of market developments.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Law, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ship broking, chartering, or a similar role within the maritime industry.
- In-depth knowledge of shipping contracts (e.g., BIMCO, NYPE, GENCON) and international trade regulations.
- Proven track record in negotiating and closing high-value charter deals or vessel sales.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, freight rates, and financial models.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with global clients and partners.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages (e.g., Mandarin, Indonesian) are advantageous.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
