Responsibility
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations of engine components, piping systems, and deck machinery.
- Inspect and test structural integrity of the vessel, including hull, superstructure, and cargo holds.
- Assist in dry docking and survey preparations, ensuring compliance with classification society standards.
- Operate and maintain welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment for on-board repairs.
- Collaborate with the engineering and deck teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ISM Code, and SOLAS regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
- Document all maintenance activities and update technical logs as required by company and maritime authorities.
- Participate in emergency drills and safety training to enhance crew preparedness.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an Engine or Deck Fitter in the maritime industry, preferably on bulk carriers.
- Valid STCW certification and other mandatory maritime safety training (e.g., Basic Safety, Advanced Firefighting).
- Proficient in welding (MIG, TIG, Arc), metal fabrication, and pipefitting.
- Strong knowledge of shipboard machinery, hydraulic systems, and structural repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) for effective communication with international crews.
- Willingness to travel globally and commit to contract-based rotations (typically 4-6 months on/off).
