As a key member of the engineering department, you will work under the Chief Engineer’s supervision, performing critical maintenance, lubrication, and operational tasks to keep our vessels running efficiently. Responsibility
- Assist the engineering team in the operation, maintenance, and repair of ship machinery and equipment.
- Perform routine lubrication of engines, pumps, and other mechanical components to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor and maintain proper oil levels in all machinery, including main engines, auxiliary engines, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of engine room equipment and report any abnormalities or malfunctions.
- Support the watchkeeping duties in the engine room, including logging operational data and maintaining records.
- Assist in bunkering operations, fuel transfers, and oil purification processes.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage, fire prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Participate in drills, training, and safety meetings as required by company and international maritime regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid STCW certification (Mandatory for all seafarers).
- Certificate of Competency (COC) as Motorman or Oiler, or equivalent maritime training.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Motorman/Oiler on commercial vessels (bulk carriers preferred).
- Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines, pumps, and auxiliary machinery.
- Familiarity with ISM, SOLAS, and MARPOL regulations.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces and under demanding conditions.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work on a rotational contract basis (typically 4-6 months onboard).
