job description
Join Vantage Data Centers as a Senior Reliability Engineer specializing in Mechanical Systems for our cutting-edge APAC Operations Design Team. Based in the vibrant region of Badung, Bali, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the high availability, efficiency, and scalability of our mission-critical data center infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific.
As part of a global leader in hyperscale data center campuses, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize mechanical systems that power the digital economy. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on next-generation cooling, power distribution, and environmental control systems while contributing to sustainability and operational excellence in one of the worldâs fastest-growing tech hubs.
If you are a problem-solver with a passion for mechanical engineering, reliability, and innovation, we invite you to bring your expertise to a dynamic, forward-thinking environment where your work will have a direct impact on global connectivity and performance.
Responsibility
- Lead the design, testing, and deployment of mechanical systems (HVAC, cooling, plumbing, fire suppression) for data centers in APAC, ensuring alignment with global standards and local regulations.
- Conduct failure mode analysis (FMA) and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and mitigate risks in mechanical infrastructure, improving system reliability and uptime.
- Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment lifespan and reduce operational downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, civil, and IT) to integrate mechanical systems with broader data center operations, ensuring seamless scalability.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics (PUE, energy efficiency, thermal management) to drive continuous improvements in mechanical system design.
- Provide technical leadership in vendor selection, contract negotiations, and commissioning of mechanical equipment, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality solutions.
- Support sustainability initiatives by evaluating and implementing energy-efficient technologies, such as free cooling, liquid cooling, and AI-driven optimization.
- Document and maintain as-built drawings, SOPs, and compliance records for mechanical systems to ensure audit readiness and operational transparency.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field. Masterâs degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, LEED, CFD) are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical system design, operations, or reliability engineering, preferably in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or industrial environments.
- Deep technical knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and fire suppression systems, with hands-on troubleshooting expertise.
- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, Revit), CFD modeling, and BMS (Building Management Systems) for system design and performance analysis.
- Strong understanding of industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO 50001) and local APAC regulations for data center mechanical infrastructure.
- Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance system performance.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required; proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia or other APAC languages is a plus.
