job description
Join a global leader in electronics manufacturing, specializing in high-precision connectors and interconnect solutions for automotive, medical, and data industries. As a Process Engineer (Plating) based in Bali, Indonesia, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing electroplating and surface finishing processes to ensure superior product quality, efficiency, and compliance with international standards.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a cutting-edge manufacturing environment, leveraging advanced technologies to drive innovation in corrosion resistance, conductivity, and aesthetic finishes for mission-critical components. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot process deviations, implement continuous improvements, and scale production while adhering to strict industry regulations.
If you are a detail-oriented engineer with expertise in plating chemistry, process control, and lean manufacturing, we invite you to apply and contribute to projects that power next-generation automotive systems, life-saving medical devices, and high-speed data infrastructure.
Responsibility
- Develop, optimize, and maintain electroplating and surface finishing processes (e.g., gold, silver, nickel, tin, or copper plating) to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Conduct DOE (Design of Experiments) and statistical analysis to improve process stability, yield, and efficiency.
- Monitor and control chemical bath compositions, temperatures, and current densities to ensure consistent plating thickness and adhesion.
- Troubleshoot defects (e.g., porosity, roughness, discoloration) and implement corrective actions using root cause analysis (RCA) and 8D methodologies.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to validate new plating specifications and transition prototypes to mass production.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and industry-specific standards (e.g., automotive PPAP, medical ISO 13485).
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce waste, cycle time, and rework.
- Train and mentor technicians on safe handling of chemicals, equipment operation, and SOP adherence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electroplating/surface finishing within electronics, automotive, or medical device manufacturing.
- Hands-on expertise with plating lines (rack, barrel, or reel-to-reel) and analytical tools (e.g., XRF, SEM, profilometers).
- Strong knowledge of plating chemistries, anodizing, or PVD/CVD processes and their impact on material properties.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), Minitab, or JMP for data-driven decision-making.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and TPM principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-precision environment.
- Certifications in Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt) or quality management systems are a plus.
