job description

Join Heptagon Photonics, a global leader in micro-optics and precision manufacturing, as a Senior Process and Metrology Engineer in the vibrant hub of Canggu, Bali. This is a unique opportunity to drive innovation in cutting-edge optical technologies while enjoying the dynamic work-life balance of Indonesia’s most sought-after destination.

In this role, you will spearhead the development, optimization, and validation of advanced manufacturing processes for micro-optical components. Your expertise in metrology and process engineering will ensure the highest standards of precision, quality, and efficiency in our production lines. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges, implement state-of-the-art measurement techniques, and contribute to the scalability of next-generation optical solutions.

Ideal for a detail-oriented engineer with a passion for precision, this position offers the chance to work on groundbreaking projects in a fast-paced, international environment. Whether you’re refining existing processes or pioneering new methodologies, your work will have a direct impact on industries ranging from consumer electronics to medical devices.

Responsibility

  • Lead the development and optimization of micro-optics manufacturing processes, including lithography, etching, and coating, to enhance product performance and yield.
  • Design and implement metrology systems and protocols to ensure compliance with stringent quality standards (e.g., ISO, SEM, AFM).
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for process deviations and propose corrective actions to minimize defects and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to scale new technologies from prototype to mass production.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and technical reports.
  • Evaluate and integrate advanced metrology tools (e.g., interferometers, profilometers) to enhance measurement accuracy.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on best practices in process control and quality assurance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in precision manufacturing and recommend innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering or metrology, preferably in micro-optics, semiconductor, or precision manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with metrology tools (e.g., SEM, AFM, CMM, optical profilers) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW) and CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of cleanroom protocols and contamination control in high-precision environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of improving process efficiency and yield.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Indonesian, Mandarin) are a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, international team and adapt to evolving technical challenges.
