Responsibility
- Develop and optimize CNC machining processes (milling, turning, grinding) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to review engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances for manufacturability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex machining issues, including tool wear, fixture design, and material selection.
- Lead process improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce cycle times, scrap rates, and operational costs.
- Evaluate and qualify subcontractor vendors, ensuring compliance with quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for machining operations.
- Train and mentor machine operators and junior engineers on best practices in precision machining.
- Stay abreast of industry trends in automation, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing to drive continuous innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Masterâs degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in precision machining, with expertise in CNC programming (e.g., G-code, CAM software like Mastercam or Fusion 360).
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and metrology tools (CMM, optical comparators).
- Proven track record in process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX) and simulation tools (e.g., Vericut).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze root causes of machining defects.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate with global teams and vendors.
