job description

Join a globally recognized manufacturing leader as a Senior Manager of Global Tariff Classification in the vibrant hub of Bali. This strategic role offers the opportunity to shape international trade compliance for a heavy industry powerhouse, ensuring seamless cross-border operations while optimizing duty savings and regulatory adherence.

As the tariff classification authority, you will lead a high-impact team in navigating complex customs regulations, harmonized systems (HS) codes, and free trade agreements (FTAs) across multiple jurisdictions. Your expertise will directly influence supply chain efficiency, cost reduction, and risk mitigation for a multinational enterprise with a footprint in heavy manufacturing.

Based in Bali—a growing center for global business operations—you’ll collaborate with legal, logistics, and finance teams to align tariff strategies with corporate objectives. This position demands a blend of technical precision, leadership acumen, and a deep understanding of global trade dynamics.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, internationally focused environment and possess a passion for tariff optimization, this is your chance to make a tangible impact on a global scale.

Responsibility

  • Lead the development and implementation of global tariff classification strategies to ensure compliance with international trade laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the accurate classification of products under the Harmonized System (HS) and other relevant tariff nomenclatures.
  • Collaborate with customs brokers, legal teams, and external advisors to resolve complex tariff disputes and audits.
  • Identify and leverage Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and preferential tariff programs to minimize duties and optimize supply chain costs.
  • Conduct risk assessments and internal audits to ensure adherence to customs valuation, origin rules, and documentation requirements.
  • Train and mentor cross-functional teams on tariff classification best practices and regulatory updates.
  • Represent the company in discussions with customs authorities, trade compliance organizations, and industry forums.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tariff processes through automation, data analytics, and process standardization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Law, or a related field. Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s in Customs Administration) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in tariff classification, customs compliance, or global trade management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Certified Classification Specialist (CCS) or equivalent professional certification in customs/tariff compliance is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Harmonized System (HS), WCO guidelines, and regional trade agreements (e.g., ASEAN, RCEP, CPTPP).
  • Proven track record of managing tariff classifications for heavy industry products (e.g., machinery, metals, chemicals).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex trade regulations and apply them to real-world scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Experience working in a multinational environment with exposure to APAC, EMEA, or Americas markets.
