United Overseas Bank (UOB) is seeking a Senior Manager of Financial Crime Compliance to join our Group Wholesale Financial Crime Investigations Team in a remote capacity based in Bali, Indonesia. This is a high-impact role for a strategic thinker with a passion for combating financial crime in the banking sector. Responsibility

  • Lead and oversee financial crime investigations, including AML, sanctions, and fraud cases, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures to align with global regulatory requirements (e.g., FATF, MAS, OFAC).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Legal, Risk, Technology) to identify and mitigate emerging financial crime risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide strategic recommendations to senior management on compliance-related matters.
  • Monitor and analyze transactional data to detect suspicious activities and ensure reporting obligations are met.
  • Provide training and guidance to teams on financial crime prevention, detection, and reporting best practices.
  • Represent UOB in external engagements with regulators, law enforcement, and industry forums.
  • Stay abreast of global trends in financial crime and regulatory changes to proactively adapt compliance strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFE) is a plus.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in financial crime compliance, AML, or regulatory investigations, preferably in banking or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of international AML/CFT regulations (e.g., FATF, MAS, OFAC, EU sanctions) and their application in a banking environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving compliance initiatives in a complex, global organization.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify patterns or anomalies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with compliance technology tools (e.g., Actimize, LexisNexis, Refinitiv) is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin) are an advantage.
