job description

Join Jacobs, a global leader in engineering and technical solutions, as a Senior Hydraulic Engineer in our dynamic team based in Bali, Indonesia. This role offers the unique opportunity to lead cutting-edge projects in hydraulic modeling, hydrological analysis, and flood risk management for high-impact infrastructure and environmental initiatives across Southeast Asia.

In this position, you will spearhead the development, calibration, and validation of advanced hydraulic and hydrological models, including flood mapping and impact assessments. Your expertise will drive data-driven decisions to mitigate water-related risks, enhance resilience, and support sustainable development in urban and rural landscapes.

Leverage your technical prowess in a collaborative environment where innovation meets real-world application. Whether you're based in the vibrant hubs of Canggu, Ubud, or Denpasar, or prefer the flexibility of remote work, you’ll contribute to projects that shape the future of water resource management in the region.

Responsibility

  • Lead the development, calibration, and validation of 1D/2D hydraulic and hydrological models using industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, MIKE, InfoWorks, SWMM).
  • Conduct flood risk assessments and produce high-accuracy flood maps to support infrastructure planning and emergency response strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hydraulic models with GIS, climate data, and urban planning tools.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations for stakeholders, including government agencies, clients, and internal teams.
  • Provide expert guidance on stormwater management, drainage systems, and water resource optimization for large-scale projects.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in hydraulic engineering, such as AI-driven modeling and real-time monitoring systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review deliverables to ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO, FEMA, local regulations).
  • Support business development by contributing to proposals, bids, and client engagement for water-related projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resources, or a related field. PE or Chartered Engineer certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in hydraulic modeling, hydrology, or flood risk management, with a portfolio of completed projects.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, MIKE 21, TUFlow, or equivalent) and GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation, statistical analysis, and scenario testing for water systems.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and present complex data to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with international standards (e.g., FEMA, ISO 19650) and local regulations in Southeast Asia.
  • Experience working on government or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage.
