Responsibility
- Conduct thorough credit underwriting for consumer credit applications, ensuring adherence to bank policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Evaluate applicant financial profiles, including income, credit history, and debt-to-income ratios, to determine creditworthiness.
- Approve or reject credit applications based on risk assessment, while maintaining a balance between customer satisfaction and risk exposure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, compliance, and risk management, to streamline the credit approval process.
- Monitor and analyze credit trends, identifying potential risks and recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Prepare detailed credit reports and documentation for internal audits, regulatory submissions, and senior management reviews.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in consumer lending and credit risk management.
- Mentor and train junior team members on credit underwriting standards, tools, and methodologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, or CIB) is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in credit underwriting, risk assessment, or consumer lending within the banking or financial services sector.
- Proven track record of evaluating credit applications, with a strong understanding of credit scoring models and risk management frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) regulations and compliance requirements for consumer credit.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound judgments under pressure.
- Proficiency in credit analysis software, financial modeling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate credit decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
