Responsibility
- Database Design & Optimization: Develop, implement, and optimize database schemas, indexes, and queries to ensure high performance and scalability.
- Performance Monitoring: Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to enhance efficiency.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce data security protocols, access controls, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
- Backup & Recovery: Design and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Cloud Migration & Management: Lead the migration, configuration, and management of databases in cloud environments (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.).
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, DevOps, and analytics teams to support application requirements and data-driven decision-making.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including corruption, connectivity, and replication problems.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation for database architectures, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., Oracle OCP, Microsoft MCSA, AWS Certified Database) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Database Administrator, with hands-on experience in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Cloud Expertise: Proven experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) and hybrid environments.
- Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and database management tasks.
- Performance Tuning: Strong skills in query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance benchmarking.
- Security Knowledge: Familiarity with encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), and audit logging.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to system improvements.
- Communication: Fluent English proficiency and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
