Responsibility
- Develop and deploy machine learning models to analyze laboratory and geotechnical data, improving accuracy and efficiency in soil/rock testing and environmental assessments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (geologists, engineers, and lab technicians) to design data-driven solutions for client projects in energy, infrastructure, and marine sectors.
- Clean, preprocess, and visualize large-scale Geo-data using tools like Python, R, SQL, and geospatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, ArcGIS).
- Optimize laboratory workflows by automating data collection, validation, and reporting processes to reduce manual errors and accelerate project delivery.
- Build and maintain predictive models for geohazard risk assessment, site characterization, and environmental impact studies.
- Present insights to stakeholders through interactive dashboards (Power BI, Tableau) and technical reports, translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Stay ahead of industry trends by researching emerging AI/ML techniques and integrating them into Fugro’s analytics pipeline.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 17025, GDPR).
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Geophysics, Civil Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in data science, with a focus on geospatial analytics, laboratory data, or environmental modeling.
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch) and SQL for data manipulation and modeling.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, PostGIS) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Strong statistical knowledge, including regression analysis, time-series forecasting, and Bayesian methods.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with laboratory data standards (e.g., LIMS, ASTM) or geotechnical engineering is a plus.
