Responsibility
- Conduct thorough credit and financial analysis for bridge loan applicants, including income verification, debt-to-income ratios, and liquidity assessments.
- Evaluate collateral (real estate, assets, or business holdings) to determine loan-to-value (LTV) ratios and risk exposure.
- Assess borrower exit strategies to ensure repayment feasibility within the loan term.
- Prepare detailed underwriting reports with risk assessments, recommendations, and compliance checks.
- Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and senior management to streamline approval workflows.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements, market trends, and internal lending policies.
- Identify red flags or inconsistencies in application materials and request additional documentation as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and correspondences for audit and reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in underwriting, preferably in bridge loans, hard money lending, or commercial real estate financing.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, credit analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and tools (e.g., Encompass, Byte, or proprietary systems).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple loan files simultaneously.
- Superb communication skills to articulate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Familiarity with local and international lending regulations is advantageous.
