Penbrothers is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our growing offshore team in Manila, with the flexibility to work remotely from Bali, Indonesia (Canggu, Ubud, Denpasar, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Kuta, or Badung). As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power our innovative digital solutions.

Responsibility
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend systems using modern technologies and best practices.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and implement robust API solutions.
- Optimize database performance, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing.
- Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection measures.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while adhering to coding standards and architectural guidelines.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues in production and development environments.
- Participate in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to team knowledge sharing.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement in our systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong focus on scalable systems.
- Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Go.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
