Responsibility
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal safety standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive Safety & Health Plans (SHP) and Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) documentation.
- Facilitate weekly safety toolbox meetings and provide ongoing safety training to site personnel and subcontractors.
- Investigate all workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, providing detailed reports and corrective action recommendations.
- Liaise with government bodies such as DOSH (JKKP) and CIDB regarding site safety matters and statutory compliance.
- Monitor the maintenance and inspection of site equipment, machinery, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure all site documentation, permits-to-work, and safety records are accurately maintained and up to date.
Qualifications
- Registered Safety & Health Officer with DOSH (Valid Green Book holder) is mandatory.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an SHO specifically within the construction or civil engineering industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994 and Factory and Machinery Act (FMA) 1967.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence safety behaviors at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Possess a valid CIDB Green Card.
