Responsibility
- Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with risk adjustment coding standards and regulatory requirements to support accurate reimbursement and quality reporting.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy.
- Conduct audits of coded data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide training and guidance to clinical staff on proper documentation practices to enhance coding precision.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
- Utilize coding software and tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Prepare and submit reports on coding activities, accuracy rates, and compliance metrics.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification (e.g., CRC, CCS).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk adjustment coding or related medical coding roles.
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including CMS guidelines and HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare providers and stakeholders.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software is a plus.
