Responsibility
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies accurately and efficiently.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely resolution and reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable, including posting payments and adjusting accounts as necessary.
- Review and appeal denied claims, providing necessary documentation and justification.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing codes, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Generate and analyze financial reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or in a similar role within the healthcare industry.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), and insurance procedures.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills to identify and resolve billing issues.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with insurance companies and healthcare providers.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while meeting deadlines and performance metrics.
- Certification in medical billing (e.g., CPC, CPB) is a plus but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.
