Responsibility

  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with strict hygiene and safety protocols.
  • Assist the surgical team by setting up operating rooms with required tools, devices, and disposables before procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of surgical supplies, ensuring availability and proper storage of all necessary items.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to surgical schedules.
  • Operate and troubleshoot specialized medical equipment, including surgical lights, tables, and monitoring devices.
  • Dispose of biohazardous materials and contaminated items safely in compliance with medical waste regulations.
  • Document equipment usage, maintenance, and sterilization processes to maintain accurate records.
  • Provide immediate support during emergencies by quickly supplying additional instruments or adjusting equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Operating Theatre Technology, Surgical Technology, or a related medical field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Operating Theatre Technician or in a similar role within a hospital or surgical center.
  • In-depth knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols.
  • Familiarity with operating room equipment (e.g., electrosurgical units, suction devices, patient monitors).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with medical staff.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment as required.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
