Responsibility
- Administer intravenous therapies, including medications, blood products, and fluids, in accordance with prescribed protocols and patient needs.
- Monitor and assess patient responses to IV treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on IV therapy procedures, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including IV administration logs, vital signs, and adverse reactions.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards, including proper handling and disposal of IV equipment and supplies.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care, addressing emotional and psychological needs alongside clinical treatments.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in IV therapy and nursing care.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with specialization or certification in Intravenous Therapy (IVT) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in IV therapy, critical care, or a related nursing field.
- Proven ability to administer IV treatments safely and effectively, with a strong understanding of pharmacology and fluid dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in documentation, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of care.
