Responsibility
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection with precision and care, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transportation of blood samples to maintain integrity and accuracy.
- Verify patient identity and confirm test requirements to prevent errors and ensure compliance with medical guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment in accordance with infection control policies.
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring a comfortable experience.
- Document all procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR) and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to prioritize urgent requests and ensure timely processing of specimens.
- Stay updated on the latest phlebotomy techniques, equipment, and industry best practices through continuous training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field; Registered Medical Technologist (RMT) license is required.
- Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or in a similar role, with a strong track record in blood collection and patient interaction.
- Certification in Phlebotomy (e.g., from a recognized institution) is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of venipuncture techniques, infection control, and medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with patients and colleagues.
