Responsibility
- Operate and maintain the vessel’s cargo pumping systems, ensuring efficient and safe transfer of oil/chemical cargo.
- Monitor cargo levels, pressure, and temperature during loading, unloading, and transit.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of pumps, pipelines, and related equipment to prevent malfunctions.
- Assist in cargo handling operations, including hose connections, valve operations, and tank cleaning.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including wearing PPE and following ISM (International Safety Management) and SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) regulations.
- Collaborate with the deck and engine crew to ensure seamless cargo operations and emergency preparedness.
- Maintain accurate logs of cargo operations, equipment status, and maintenance activities.
- Participate in drills and training sessions to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pumpman or in a similar role aboard Oil/Chemical Tanker Vessels.
- Valid STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) certification, including Basic Safety Training (BST).
- Certification in Tanker Familiarization (Oil/Chemical) (e.g., Advanced Oil Tanker or Chemical Tanker Operations).
- Proven knowledge of cargo handling systems, pumping equipment, and maritime safety procedures.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
- Willingness to work on a rotational basis (typically 6-9 months onboard, followed by leave).
- Familiarity with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other international maritime regulations is a plus.
