Responsibility
- Assist senior engineers in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vesselâs propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and other mechanical equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of engines, pumps, generators, and other critical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor and maintain engine room logs, fuel consumption, and lubrication systems.
- Support emergency response procedures, including damage control and fire-fighting systems.
- Assist in bunkering operations and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and document all work performed.
- Collaborate with the deck department to ensure seamless coordination during loading/unloading operations.
- Adhere to all international maritime safety standards (SOLAS, MARPOL) and company policies.
Qualifications
- Certificate of Competency (CoC) as a Marine Engineer Officer (4th Engineer or equivalent) from a recognized maritime authority.
- Minimum 6 months of sea service experience on commercial vessels (preferably bulk carriers).
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic machinery.
- Familiarity with maritime safety protocols, including STCW, ISM, and ISPS codes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a team environment.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding tasks in confined spaces and varying weather conditions.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) for effective communication with international crews.
- Willingness to travel and commit to long-term contracts aboard vessels.
