Responsibility
- Prepare and present high-quality sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki, and temaki, adhering to authentic Japanese techniques and standards.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared according to food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain efficient workflow and timely service during peak hours.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies to maintain optimal stock of seafood, rice, and other essential ingredients.
- Customize sushi creations based on customer preferences and dietary restrictions while maintaining authenticity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
- Stay updated on culinary trends and innovate new sushi recipes to enhance the menu offerings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
- Proven expertise in preparing traditional and contemporary sushi dishes with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and knife skills.
- Certification in food safety and hygiene (e.g., HACCP) is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
