Xiamen University Malaysia is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Lifeguard to join our campus sports and recreation team. In this role, you will be the primary guardian of our aquatic facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining rigorous safety standards, monitoring pool activities, and ensuring that our world-class swimming facilities remain in pristine condition. We are looking for an individual who is not only a strong swimmer but also possesses excellent observation skills, a proactive attitude toward facility maintenance, and the ability to act decisively during emergencies.

Responsibility
- Monitor pool activities continuously to prevent accidents and ensure patron safety.
- Perform regular water quality testing and chemical balance checks to maintain health standards.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the pool deck, changing rooms, and surrounding facilities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations and provide first aid or CPR as required.
- Enforce all pool rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment for all swimmers.
- Conduct routine maintenance inspections of swimming equipment, including lane lines, starting blocks, and filtration systems.
- Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate logs of daily operations and attendance.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Lifeguarding Certification (e.g., ILS, SLSA, or local equivalent).
- Valid CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Strong swimming proficiency and physical stamina.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a university, hotel, or public pool environment is highly preferred.
- Excellent observation skills and the ability to remain focused for long periods.
- Strong communication skills in English and/or Bahasa Malaysia.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and public holidays as required by the university calendar.
