Responsibility
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate records of all specimens collected.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols to ensure a sterile working environment.
- Label, store, and transport blood samples according to laboratory and regulatory standards.
- Assist in patient preparation, including explaining procedures and addressing concerns to ensure a positive experience.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to prioritize urgent collections and maintain efficient workflow.
- Monitor and maintain phlebotomy equipment, ensuring all tools are sterile and functional.
- Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating empathy and professionalism in all patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomist from a recognized institution (e.g., NHA, ASCP, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in phlebotomy, preferably in a hospital, clinic, or mobile healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to reassure and comfort patients of all ages.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying schedules, including potential on-call or weekend shifts.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
