Responsibility
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate records of all specimens collected.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols to ensure a sterile working environment.
- Label, store, and transport blood samples according to laboratory guidelines.
- Provide clear instructions to patients to ensure a smooth and stress-free blood collection process.
- Monitor and maintain phlebotomy equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and functional.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to prioritize urgent sample collections.
- Stay updated with the latest phlebotomy techniques, industry standards, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Certification or diploma in Phlebotomy from a recognized institution (required for Senior roles).
- Proven experience in blood collection, with a minimum of 1-2 years for Junior roles and 3+ years for Senior roles.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients of all ages.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
- CPR certification and basic life support (BLS) training is a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or early mornings, as needed.
