As a School Bookshop Retail Associate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth bookshop operations, assisting students, parents, and teachers with their educational needs, and maintaining a well-organized and welcoming retail space. You will work closely with our team to promote literacy, manage inventory, and provide exceptional customer service. Responsibility
- Assist customers (students, parents, and teachers) with book selections, inquiries, and purchases in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage daily bookshop operations, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and POS system transactions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing bookshop environment to enhance the shopping experience.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, restocking shelves, and reporting low-stock or damaged items to the supervisor.
- Process sales, returns, and exchanges efficiently while ensuring accuracy in transactions.
- Promote literacy initiatives, book fairs, and special events within the school community.
- Collaborate with the team to create engaging book displays and seasonal promotions.
- Provide recommendations on educational materials and resources based on customer needs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in retail, customer service, or bookshop management is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and teachers.
- Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, inventory software).
- Passion for books, education, and community engagement.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours, including weekends and school events if needed.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia or other languages is a bonus.
