Responsibility
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service at checkout counters, ensuring a seamless transaction process for customers.
- Operate cash registers, process payments (cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments), and issue receipts accurately.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program sign-ups.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked checkout area, including replenishing bags, brochures, and promotional materials.
- Handle customer complaints or issues with empathy and problem-solving skills, escalating to management when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to minimize wait times and ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Follow IKEA’s safety, security, and loss prevention procedures at all times.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on new systems, products, and customer service best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; prior retail or customer service experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (additional languages are a bonus).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays (as needed).
- Strong attention to detail and basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting light items (up to 10 kg).
- Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality service.
- Basic computer and POS system literacy; training will be provided.
