The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is seeking a National Consultant - Emission Research to join our dynamic team in Bali, Indonesia. This role is pivotal in advancing our mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural systems while promoting sustainable rice production.

Responsibility
- Conduct field and laboratory research on greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural systems, with a focus on rice production.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data to assess emission levels and identify mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with international and local research teams to design and implement emission reduction projects.
- Develop and validate methodologies for measuring and monitoring agricultural emissions.
- Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to disseminate findings to stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice to policymakers, farmers, and agricultural organizations on sustainable practices.
- Support the training and capacity-building of local researchers and technicians in emission research techniques.
- Stay updated on global trends and advancements in agricultural emission research and integrate best practices into IRRI’s initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, Climate Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in greenhouse gas or environmental research, preferably in agricultural settings.
- Proven experience working in agricultural or environmental research laboratories, with a strong background in data collection and analysis.
- Familiarity with emission measurement tools, techniques, and modeling software (e.g., gas chromatographs, eddy covariance systems).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex data to diverse audiences.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel to field sites across Bali and potentially other regions in Southeast Asia.
