Responsibility
- Source, evaluate, and select merchandise that aligns with brand standards and customer demand.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best deals.
- Monitor inventory levels and sales performance to optimize stock and minimize overstock or shortages.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and consumer preferences to make data-driven purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop promotional strategies for new and existing products.
- Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and supplier meetings to discover new products and build strong vendor relationships.
- Prepare and present buying plans, budgets, and forecasts to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing practices, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Merchandise Buyer, Retail Buyer, or in a similar role within the retail or consumer products industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and financial reports.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills to build and maintain supplier relationships.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative mindset with a passion for identifying emerging trends and innovative products.
- Willingness to travel for sourcing trips, trade shows, or supplier meetings as needed.
