Responsibility
- Provide medical technical support to onshore staff nurses, ensuring accurate and timely processing of underwriting requests.
- Review and analyze medical records, lab results, and applicant health histories to assist in risk assessment.
- Collaborate with underwriters and healthcare professionals to clarify medical information and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and company policies.
- Prepare detailed medical summaries and reports for underwriting decisions.
- Utilize underwriting software and databases to input, update, and retrieve medical data efficiently.
- Assist in training new team members on medical terminology, underwriting guidelines, and best practices.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews to ensure consistency and accuracy in medical evaluations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, or a related healthcare field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in medical underwriting, healthcare support, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with underwriting or medical software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work night shifts (NA time zone) with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex medical data.
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) or underwriting is a plus.
