Responsibility
- Design and specify marine piping systems, including bilge, ballast, fuel, cooling, and fire protection systems.
- Select and source high-quality piping components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including naval architects, structural engineers, and project managers, to integrate piping systems into overall vessel designs.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations and simulations to optimize system performance and efficiency.
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for fabrication and installation.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of piping systems to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Perform risk assessments and implement safety measures to comply with maritime regulations.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during construction, sea trials, and operational phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in piping design and engineering, preferably in the marine or shipyard industry.
- Proficiency in piping design software such as AutoCAD, PDMS, or Aveva Marine.
- Strong knowledge of marine piping systems, materials, and industry standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloydâs Register).
- Experience with hydraulic calculations, pressure drop analysis, and system optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
