Responsibility
- Translate written and verbal communications between Mandarin and English with high accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
- Assist in the localization of educational materials, including textbooks, presentations, and digital content.
- Provide interpretation services during meetings, workshops, and events involving Mandarin-speaking participants.
- Collaborate with administrative and academic teams to ensure clear and effective communication across departments.
- Proofread and edit translated documents to maintain consistency with institutional standards and terminology.
- Support the development of bilingual resources to enhance the learning experience for students and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive or proprietary information.
- Stay updated on linguistic trends, educational terminology, and cultural nuances relevant to the role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Chinese Studies, or a related field.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin and English, with excellent written and verbal skills in both languages.
- Proven experience in translation or interpretation, preferably in an educational or corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of cultural differences and the ability to adapt communication styles accordingly.
- Proficiency in translation tools (e.g., CAT tools) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Prior experience in the education sector or administrative support is a plus.
