Responsibility
- Lead the design and development of mechanical/HVAC systems for air- and water-cooled data centers, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Define and establish design criteria, specifications, and best practices for mechanical systems, including cooling, ventilation, and air distribution.
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall data center designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies, load calculations, and energy modeling to optimize system performance and sustainability.
- Oversee the preparation of technical drawings, schematics, and documentation using CAD and BIM software.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, international codes, and client-specific requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and reviews to align design solutions with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PE, LEED) is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical/HVAC design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role for data center or critical infrastructure projects.
- Proven expertise in designing air- and water-cooled systems, including chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, and heat rejection systems.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, IES VE).
- Strong knowledge of international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO) and local building codes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate under tight deadlines and complex project requirements.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a track record of managing cross-functional teams and client relationships.
- Experience working in Southeast Asia or familiarity with tropical climate design considerations is highly desirable.
